Sedation Dentistry
With sedation dentistry, you no longer have to fear your visit to the dentist. Dr. Rutherford can use conscious sedation to reduce your anxieties about dental treatment and help you remain relaxed and comfortable throughout your entire procedure.
Laser-Assisted Periodontal Therapy
Healthy gums are vital to maintaining your overall body and oral wellness. Periodontal disease, also known as gum disease, starts as gingivitis and can become very dangerous if it continues to progress. Dr. Rutherford’s highly qualified and trained periodontal therapists treat gum disease at any stage, utilizing a number of periodontal care methods such as laser therapy, saliva DNA testing and antibiotic therapy to help keep your teeth and gums as clean and healthy as possible.
Laser assisted periodontal therapy is a non-surgical treatment that eliminates pockets and removes bacteria and plaque from your mouth. The laser removes infected tissue, sterilizes the pocket, and promotes quick healing and exceptional results. There are many benefits to this treatment, including the prevention of future oral diseases and improvement in the condition of your gums. This procedure is often necessary for the treatment of gum disease, helping you reduce the discomfort, bleeding, and irritation of gingivitis and other gum issues and preventing future tooth loss that could require dentures.
Laser Dentistry
Laser dentistry with our state-of-the-art diode laser can be an excellent treatment technique for gum recontouring, periodontal disease, comprehensive oral cleanings, and more. Our non-surgical laser techniques can often provide a more gentle treatment and an increased level of precision when compared to traditional procedures. Additionally, our diode laser is designed to reduce bleeding, discomfort levels, and recovery times for an enhanced experience and optimal oral health.
Root Canal Therapy
Root canal therapy is designed to treat severe decay on the teeth and pain that is often caused by a nerve infection. If the infected tooth is not treated, more serious health risks may occur in the future, and/or you may need to have the tooth extracted. Root canal treatments sterilize the infected nerve and eliminate bacteria (as well as the extreme discomfort that can be caused by infected teeth). Once the affected area is completely treated, we will apply a life-like porcelain crown to the tooth for protection and stabilization.
Wisdom Teeth Removal
Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, are usually not apparent until a person reaches their late teens or twenties. Usually, a total of four grow at the back of your upper and lower teeth – two on the top, two on the bottom. Some people may only develop one or two, and others may never have any wisdom teeth. For those who do receive them, extraction may or may not be necessary; however, there are often many benefits to their removal. There is often not enough room in the mouth for them to grow properly. As a result, you can develop impacted wisdom teeth, or they may grow at an angle and possibly never erupt past the gum’s surface. These issues often lead to discomfort and severe alignment issues. Dr. Rutherford is highly experienced at performing wisdom teeth removal to treat these problems and even prevent them altogether for many patients.
Bruxism (Teeth Clenching) Treatment With Night Guards
Many people grind and clench their teeth while they sleep, a condition known as bruxism. This can lead to serious dental problems as well as headaches, jaw pain, and other symptoms. At The Art of Dentistry, our experienced dental team can have an oral night guard custom-designed for the best possible fit. These treatments can prevent the teeth from grinding together during sleep and significantly reduce problems caused by bruxism.
